Today’s guest believes collaboration happens when conversations turn into action.

He is the creator of Idea Climbing™, the result of his 21-year case study interviewing and researching successful people and companies about collaboration and mentoring. He works with business owners and marketers to increase communication with their current clients while attracting new ones faster through interview content, virtual events, interactive media, and mentoring programs.

Along the way, he stumbled into the world of improv and discovered that improv ISN’T about being funny; it’s about collaboration. It’s an art, a science, and a lifestyle. Since then, he’s integrated improv rules into his business presentations and everyday life - it’s shifted his worldview.

Please join me in welcoming Mark J. Carter.

In this episode we discuss:

  • his thoughts on leadership: “Leadership is creating a shared goal that aligns with a personal goal. It’s bringing people up.”
  • the clubs he created in 4th and 5th grades for his friends, ID cards and all.
  • when he discovered he could be a successful entrepreneur.
  • how Tony Robbins influenced him as a young adult.
  • his early years of cold calling high schools hoping to be hired to speak to their students.
  • his pivot from speaking to thoughtfully mentoring.
  • how he set up mentoring video meetings through agendas focused on advice, support, and connections.
  • his plan to reach out to people who talked about networking and relationships to lead to referrals = a business was born!
  • the importance of showing a genuine interest in people beyond just trying to get an ask fulfilled.
  • his strategy for networking with the different levels of his network including the format for his excel sheet.
